Yong Tau Foo Infographic Poster
We were tasked to create an infographic poster of any chosen local dish. I decided to choose Yong Tau Foo as it is one of my favourite dishes and I was able to choose the ingredients I wanted. The customization of it appealed to me along with the wide variety of choices.
Sketched Drafts:

I started with sketching out some ideas first and I thought the words "Selectable & Delectable" was fitting to the whole concept of yong tau foo. Some research was also done to find out the origins of this dish which was the Hakka culture and the ingredients involved for the content I would want to include in my poster.

Final Layout:

Rationale: The colour scheme and tone of the poster was inspired by traditional Chinese culture as Yong Tau Foo originated from the Hakkas hence, I wanted to incorporate the Hakka women wearing their traditional clothes. The red colour of the poster is eye-catching which grabs the attention of viewers and it added to the Chinese theme along with the border frame. Focusing on the illustrations was important to ensure that the various graphic elements are identifiable.
Process: Initially, I struggled with coming up with a layout and how I wanted to portray the graphics. I decided to scrap the words "Selectable & Delectable" as they could not fit anywhere nice in the composition of the poster. I went with the flow while designing the layout of the graphics and the content which was why I did not create many drafts as I experimented with just putting things together to get what I was satisfied with.
I enjoyed the whole process of creating this poster as illustration is one of my interests and this assignment also helped me in upgrading my proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
